🚨 BHUK Women's Draft Tournament & Girls Junior Nationals 2021 🚨

We are pleased to announce details of the Women’s draft tournament and the girls junior nationals.
📆 – 13th November 2021
💰 - £25 approx*
📍 – Skate Central, Sheffield
⏰ - 9am - 6pm
*Players will received a personalised t-shirt (jersey for goalies).
This is a draft tournament with upto six teams taking part and has a superhero theme:
Black Widow
Wonder Woman
Poison Ivy
Cat Woman
Harley Quinn
Super Girl
Players need to be at least 14 years of age for the women’s draft tournament, anyone under will take part in the girls junior nationals.
Everyone is welcome, whether you’re a seasoned GB international or complete novice! The tournament is designed to celebrate and grow the women’s game of Ball Hockey in the UK.

Looking back at the history of the Women’s Draft Tournament, Steph Towns who has represented GB at Senior level on three occasions had the following to say:
“For me and most of the women I know, the women’s draft is the highlight of the domestic BHUK calendar. The build up and reach of the event is one of the most exciting parts, and gets everyone excited and feeling competitive!”
Steph continued:
“It’s exciting to play with and against new people from all hockey backgrounds and compete in a no pressure, inclusive and fun format. The organisation and running of the event is absolute compliment to the BHUK staff who show a genuine interest and passion for growing the women’s game for no gain other than to get more players involved and to showcase the pool of talent that we can nurture for World Championships.”
Steph finished by saying:
“It’s simply just a hockey day out with friends, an opportunity to meet new people and to have a laugh. But that certainly doesn’t take away the all or nothing competitive edge that all teams bring on the day!”
Steph is pictured below with BHUK President, Rob Clayton. Steph was the captain of the first Women’s Draft Tournament winners at the inaugural event back in 2018.
For those trialing for the Junior World Cup U16 Boys / U20 Girls Team and the U18 & U20 boys teams for the Junior World Championships in 2022 we are encouraging players to attend the event to showcase their ability ahead of selections.
The teams will be drafted across all age groups. Players will be selected randomly but they will be separated by experience into ‘pots’. It will give players the chance to play with players from other teams across the country giving them a new experience.
It is our intention that the teams will have an even level of playing ability spread across the teams making it as competitive as possible.
We’re also looking for volunteer coaches and managers from the BHUK family to assist with the event.
